Ease of Use

I tested Webdock’s performance by running detailed evaluations on one of its servers.

The server specifications I used for testing were:

  • Type: NVMe Epyc® Bit
  • Disk Space: 100 GB
  • CPU: 10 Threads
  • RAM: 10 GB
  • Network Port: 1 Gbit/s
  • Location: Node KVM-epyc3-u25-r2, Europe / Denmark

Each test was carefully chosen to assess key performance factors for server functionality. Here’s a brief look at the tests, the commands used, and what the results mean for future Webdock hosting users.

1. Disk Speed Test

The Disk Speed Test checks NVMe SSD speed. It shows how fast the server reads and writes data. This speed affects data storage and retrieval. Many programs depend on this, such as content systems and databases.

To get the write speed, this command ran: sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=testfile bs=1G count=4 oflag=direct

To get the read speed, this command ran: sudo dd if=testfile of=/dev/null bs=1G count=4

Results:

  • Write Speed: 2.6 GB/s
  • Read Speed: 559 MB/s

Write Speed (2.6 GB/s)

This number shows how fast the server saves information to its disk. This fast write speed is very good for tasks that need constant data saving. Think of it like making backups or keeping activity logs. At 2.6 GB/s, the server can handle lots of data quickly. This means no delays for applications that record events or manage many uploads. These speeds are excellent for SSDs, especially NVMe types. They are built for quick data transfers.

Read Speed (559 MB/s)

This number tells you how quickly the server can pull data from its disk. A speed of 559 MB/s is solid for many applications. This includes websites, databases, and file sharing. While not as high as the write speed, this performance is still strong. It supports fast data access. This means quicker page loads and responsive databases. It helps websites that manage a lot of content feel snappy.

Summary

This server setup works well for demanding applications. It suits e-commerce sites with changing content. It is also a good fit for large databases or websites with high-quality media files.

2. CPU Benchmark

The CPU benchmark tests the processing power of the server’s AMD Epyc® processor. This test matters for tasks that need a lot of computing power. Examples include data analysis, image processing, and complex calculations.

The Memory Test checks the server’s RAM performance. It measures how fast the RAM can read and write data.

Fast memory is important for quick data access. This matters for in-memory databases, caching systems, and apps that store temporary data.

I ran the memory test with this command: sysbench memory run.

This command performs memory operations on 102,400 MB of data. It shows how well the RAM handles speed.

Results:

  • Total Operations: 60,832,576 (approximately 6 million operations per second)
  • Transfer Rate: 5939.74 MiB/sec

Total Operations

The server’s RAM processes 6 million operations each second. This shows its ability to manage data quickly. This speed is good for applications that constantly access memory.

Transfer Rate

The RAM moves data at 6 GB per second. This ensures quick information transfer between memory and the CPU. It helps applications that need fast data access. These include caching systems, in-memory databases, and popular websites with many users.

Summary

This Webdock server offers great memory speed. It’s ideal for running heavy applications. It’s a great option for handling busy websites, big databases, or apps that use caching. If businesses need quick data access for smooth operations, this server is a great choice.

This server is a great fit for applications that need strong caching power. Websites using content management systems often rely on caching. They may also use in-memory databases like Redis for better performance. It also works well for services that manage many user sessions at once.

4. Database Performance Test (MySQL)

We run a database performance test. This test measures MySQL database speed. It focuses on how the server handles read and write queries. This test is important for applications with large database needs. Think of online stores, social media platforms, or CRM systems.

I carried out the test with these commands:

Preparation:

sysbench –db-driver=mysql –mysql-user=admin –mysql-password=W55NBggcvpE4 –mysql-db=server30 oltp_read_write prepare

Execution:

sysbench –db-driver=mysql –mysql-user=admin –mysql-password=W55NBggcvpE4 –mysql-db=server30 oltp_read_write run

Cleanup:

sysbench –db-driver=mysql –mysql-user=admin –mysql-password=W55NBggcvpE4 –mysql-db=server30 oltp_read_write cleanup

Results:

  • Transactions per second: 285.83
  • Queries per second: 5716.58
  • Latency:
    • Min: 2.17 ms
    • Avg: 3.50 ms
    • Max: 9.90 ms
    • 95th Percentile: 5.47 ms

5. Global Ping Test

The Global Ping Test checks network speed from many places around the world. This shows how fast users in different areas connect to the server.

Fast connections are key for apps used globally. They make load times quicker and improve user experience. This is vital for real-time apps and international services.

I used Check Host to run a ping test for the server IP 92.XXX.XXX.87. This tool measures latency by checking response times from different global locations. It shows the minimum, average, and maximum round-trip times (RTT) for each region.

These results help analyze connection speed and quality across various areas. Understanding latency is essential for improving server performance and ensuring user satisfaction. Below is a summary of the ping results from key locations.

Europe

The server reached very low latency across Europe. In Germany, the Netherlands, and France, times were usually under 30 ms. This low latency means users in Europe will get almost instant responses. This is perfect for websites and apps aimed at European audiences.

Asia

Ping times were longer for Asian locations. Japan and Indonesia had higher pings, around 268 ms and 274 ms. Hong Kong and India showed more moderate latencies, with Mumbai at 143 ms and Hong Kong at 199 ms. This suggests acceptable performance for users in Asia, but the distance introduces some delay.

Americas

North and South American users saw latency between 100 and 203 ms. Atlanta’s latency was about 109 ms. Sao Paulo had higher latency at 203 ms. This is slower than Europe. Yet, these times show good performance for American audiences. There might be small delays for interactive applications.

Summary

This server is ideal for businesses targeting a European audience. Its low latency ensures fast performance for users in Europe. For users in Asia and the Americas, there may be slight delays. Real-time services like gaming and video calls might face interruptions. However, activities like browsing websites or accessing standard content remain unaffected.

Speed – When we talk about a host server’s speeds, we refer to its “time to first byte” (TTFB), basically how quickly the server sends the first byte of data to a site visitor. If the TTFB of a host is higher, then your site will be delivered quickly to the user. Uptime  is the host server’s “online time” within a time period, and the higher the uptime, the more reliable the host (higher uptime = less downtime). High uptimes mean your site will be active most of the time. Loading time – the average loading time of the website shows how long it takes till your site is fully rendered and functional (i.e. can be clicked). Fast page load time means your site is well-optimized. These three factors impact the overall performance of your site on the host.

Webdock has an excellent rating on Trustpilot. It scores 4.97 out of 5, based on 158 reviews.

When you’re choosing a web host, three key things affect your site’s performance:

Speed: This is about how fast the server responds to a visitor’s request. A key metric is “time to first byte” (TTFB). A low TTFB means the server quickly starts sending data, making your website feel faster to users.

Uptime: This measures how much time the server is online and running. High uptime, like 99.9%, means your website is almost always available for visitors to access.

Loading Time: This is the total time it takes for your entire webpage to show up and become usable. A fast loading time means visitors can see your content and interact with it quickly, which improves their experience.
